Phil Cohran. Trumpet player, was with Sun Ra's Arkestra in it's Chicago days (late 50's early 60's). Went on to produce some amazing stuff with his Artistic Heritage Ensemble. Check the Memorial to Malcolm X. Wailing to the skies. His eight sons play in the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, they're good.

Which brings us to... Arthur Lee is a genius. This album is fucking amazing. I'm not good at articulating on these subjects. Just listen to this Los Angeles psychedelic pop masterpiece. Later Love albums sound a lot like Hendrix. Brothers on another level.
